Tax Advantages of Giving

There are many ways to participate in the Kalamazoo River Valley Trailway campaign with a charitable gift. All gifts are tax-deductible. Gifts made to the Endowment Fund will support ongoing trailway care and maintenance, and are also eligible for the Michigan Community Foundation Tax Credit.

Four-year pledges are desirable and will be sought in most cases, and may include gifts of cash and/or assets, such as stock or other securities. Gifts to the campaign may also be one-time pledges.

Memorials & Naming Opportunities

All donors to the Trailway project will be acknowledged.  In addition, naming opportunities will be available which will include naming of Trail segments for significant gifts.

Your gift to the Kalamazoo River Valley Trailway Endowment Fund is a gift to a component fund of the Kalamazoo Community Foundation. Because the Community Foundation has exclusive legal control over the contributed assets, your gift is subject to the Community Foundation’s authority to redirect donations received to another beneficiary without approval if the purpose of the fund is no longer widely beneficial or necessary, incapable of fulfillment, or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community.

"Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men’s blood, and probably themselves will not be realized.

Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram, once recorded, will never die."

—Daniel Burhnam, the Father of Urban Planning
